      Hi Ann Marie! Oh man, that is not good 😟 I got my press from the Bath Bomb Press up in Canada. She is so very nice and easy to work with - the link is in the description I struggled with the decision to buy it for a really long time because the cost is crazy, but in the end I don't regret it for a second! Let me know if you get one. I also have several video of my using an arbor press for bath bombs. It was a life saver! But I was cracking my molds. It wasn't until much later I realized that a lot of force does not equate to a successful bath bomb - sometimes it can cause them to break apart even more. That is another option for you if the bb press is too much $$. 💕

      you can make you logo on Canva, at least that is what I would do as I like canve. But I did hire a graphic designer to create my logo and business cards for me. I then was able to take it and create all of my other materials (labels, table skirts and so on) There may be sites to help you create it too, I just am not aware of them. Good Luck - I know it can be daunting!

      I clearly stated that the recipe was from Keeley at Soy and Shea in the beginning of the video so that if you didn't want to watch or were just interested in the recipe you could go straight there also there are a lot of new makers that watch that really need to understand the sanitizing of surfaces, and that this is not a sterile environment. Feel free to skip info that you have no interest in or have no need of in videos - I do it all the time, it is just part of watching how-to videos.

      thanks Ashley! I appreciate the encouragement. 48 jars in one month is amazing!!! Good for you! 😮💕 I thought about trying to make this into a cream instead of a lotion but I have so dang many of these bottles to use up. Maybe after they are gone I will switch. Do you make a lotion too? I'm trying to figure out what people would rather have.

    • @ashley3492
      @ashley3492 2 дні тому

      @@WalnutCreekBathBoutique I don't make a lotion, I just make the cream in potted jars and encourage people to put it on at bedtime and they are absolutely loving it. It's really thick, almost like a balm. I have 3 scents, lavender, bergamot and lemongrass. I'm not sure if you are familiar with Ellen Ruth, but I used her recipe and tweaked it a bit. Mind you, I am also a nurse and a lot of my customers are nurses so they are already familiar with the benefits of Magnesium. Maybe if you do markets, print up a little blurb on the benefits of magnesium, without making any claims for your product and this may help with sales.

    One thing I started doing with things like liquid germall plus and polysorbate 80 was to replace the tops with those squeeze bottle tops. Makes things so much easier for measuring and dispensing. I also have oils in squeeze bottles and water as well for small batches etc. I don't know who I learned it from but it's a game changer ❤

    Hi Tammy! Can you share what type of wax dye or coloring you use and where you get it? Also, when you test your candles and wax melts, do you do that in a small enclosed room? Like a small bedroom with the door closed? Are you selling more wax melts or candles? Thank you!! Tina 🩷

    • @WalnutCreekBathBoutique
      @WalnutCreekBathBoutique 3 дні тому

      oh my gosh - I just wrote a book and lost it LOL Let me try again and I will shorten my answer so as not to bore you 😂 I use Problend from the Flaming Candle for both candle and wax melts - I use candle dye from Northwood Distributing (but any candle company will have good choices) When I test I wait until burn 5 or so as I find that it when the scent really starts to come through (due to a good melt pool usually by then) and then I start burning in different rooms. For instance, I will put in bathroom for the 4 hour burn and then the next day I will put in kitchen, then the next day the bedroom. The rooms can't have a draft to test but other than that they are fine. It gives me a good indication of how the candle performs in different size rooms. My wax melts really took a dive in sales a couple of years ago, I don't know why - but then I started making them in all the cute little shapes and they picked up again - YAY (but SOOO much more time consuming to make) Candles are picking up as well. This fall will be year 3 for me and every years is better. I will say that wax melts are still selling better for me but I see that maybe becoming more even. I just think candles are more "on trend" at the moment. Anyway- another book LOL - hope you are doing well!!!

    If you were making oils to use in clip on car air vent diffusers that have the cotton pads in them that you can put essential oils on them, would you still use a reed diffuser base or something else as the carrier? Thank you for this very informative video.

      Hi Lisa! it depends - don't ya love it LOL - if there is NO skin contact (no refills or no stoppers that are then removed by the customer, basically 100% contained, then you don't have to follow IFRA - it can be 100%. If the customer is adding the cotton pads (I have not seen these so don't really understand how that works) they are having skin contact and then IFRA 10 A comes into play. Thanks for watching!!! 🤗

    Thanks for this. I love that you waited and put the OOTB response AND the "in wax" assessments in one video because as we know, FOs can be very different when put into wax.

    i switched to lard, coconut oil, castor oil and shea. but i will use up what i have so nothing goes to waste.

      so you don't use a liquid oil (other than castor)? I just got a ton of unprocessed tallow - I'm super excited to get to use it.

    • @relevant.c5411
      @relevant.c5411 10 днів тому

      @@WalnutCreekBathBoutique nope. my lard is 50/50 tallow/lard, coconut for cleansing but not too much or it will be drying, shea for moisture, castor for lovely bubbles and i always add a bit of salt for hardness. sugar will also add to bubble experience. for baby soap i use only olive oil and let set up for 8 months. super gentle. for laundry soap i use only coconut oil. must cut that within a few hours or it will get too hard to cut. love ur channel, thanks for sharing.

    I thought the butters had to be cooked first before blending.

    • @WalnutCreekBathBoutique
      @WalnutCreekBathBoutique 10 днів тому

      if by cooked you mean where you gently melt them and then quickly cool them then yes and no. if you butters come to you grainy -yes, if they come to you nice and soft with no graininess, I see no reason to do it. I am gently melting them in this process so that also helps with that

    I’m confused. I go to the online labels site and it wants me to pay and to order labels from them.

    • @WalnutCreekBathBoutique
      @WalnutCreekBathBoutique 9 днів тому

      Online labels is like Avery - you have to buy their labels to use the maestro design tools and to print. It makes sense in a way, to be able to print on a shape they have to have the design area dialed in exactly to know where to print (does that make sense LOL)

    Good morning. I love watching your videos. I was listening to this and watching when I can while working in my shop kitchen labeling bath salts. You were talking about how much of things you take. I had to laugh. I did the same thing with taking all my stuff when I first started. I too, have so many scents of soaps. I now only take 8 of each. I've never not had some to bring back home but at least less bars. I also don't put my entire amount of bars on my web site and I check the web site amount once or twice a week. I make sure I leave enough aside for my shop.

    • @WalnutCreekBathBoutique
      @WalnutCreekBathBoutique 9 днів тому

      we certainly are similar! I did the same on my website, but then I would have one or two bars left, and not selling them, so put them on the website and then sell them, and then forget to take them off the website 😂😂😂 I'm a mess with it! I have a video coming soon with my new process - or my test of a new process - I am barcoding all of my products. I'm going to test it this weekend at my craft show to see if the extra time and money involved in putting barcodes on products will be worth it at a show.🙏

      @@WalnutCreekBathBoutique It takes a while to come up with the SKU's and I had so many products. We sell our honey and honey products as well. I used Online Labels barcode generator. I think barcoding it will make your checkout faster for sure. My problem is Square owns Weebly which I use for my web site, I use Square for check out in my shop, but what I have on my system here doesn't add to or remove it from the site which sucks! Good luck with it. Valerie
